Our Story

As a small child, I remember watching shows on TV such as Knight Rider, He-Man, and Dukes of Hazzard. They inspired me to be that “hero” who saved the day against evil people. In my upbringing, I was taught to love God, Family, this Great Nation and not to be afraid to stand up for your beliefs and what’s wrong.

I remember vividly laying on my parents’ floor when breaking news came across the tv saying we were going to war against Saddam Hussein. It didn’t really sink in what that meant until they showed live footage of missiles flying across the sky like fireworks. At that moment, I knew what price was being paid to enjoy the lifestyle that I did. As I grew older and searched for who I was and what I wanted to do with my life, 911 happened. When I saw the second tower fall, I realized war did not only happen on foreign land, and I needed to do my part to help protect this beautiful place that I call home and wanted to one day have a family and raise children.

During the last 20 years in law enforcement, I have had the opportunity to meet many great people, but unfortunately, when I meet most people, it is on their worst day. One thing that has bothered me most in my career is dealing with innocent victims who had no resources or training to protect themselves. In 2001 I applied for the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and was hired. This went for businesses and personally. In 2010, a few other Deputy Sheriffs and I started LawMan Security & Consulting. We wanted to provide professional, very well-trained Police Officers as an option for security for businesses. While providing this service to our customers, we saw the lack of the ability for civilians to receive high-quality training in self-defense, firearms, tactics, and medical survival techniques. We began teaching self-defense classes to females and children and had a great response from the public. They liked that we were using Officers to teach life-saving skills if they encounter themselves in one of the everyday situations that we typically see on the streets. These classes were not based on a long martial arts career with a unique skill set. Our courses gave students the tools to protect themselves and get away from the situation as soon as possible. We were getting calls regularly asking when we would be hosting more classes and how to sign up. Unfortunately, we did not have our own location to host courses, making it challenging to host courses regularly.

The vast majority of our students wanted to attend gun training. Once again, we ran into the issue of not having our own range/facility to fulfill these requests with our customers. We developed a program for students who had never held a gun, basic fundamentals and handling all the way up to advanced close quarter tactics. This program developed into a wide variety of classes for civilians, law enforcement, and the military.

In 2017 I also saw a lack of options in our town for law enforcement and civilians to purchase quality gear and guns. The local “box” store is designed as one size fits all. Based on my experience and training, I knew this was not the best approach. I decided to open LawMan Tactical. My vision was to provide quality guns, gear, and clothing to law enforcement and civilians. I wanted my staff to have the experience to help guide our customers to what worked for them as an individual, not just make a sale. After being open 2 years, we moved locations and doubled our store. We sell to police departments around the country, military, and civilians. We have been very fortunate to gain a large following and client base from the community because of our experience. Our staff is asked multiple times a day if we provide a range and training.

In 2020 I began having visions of creating the “ultimate training facility” in Evansville. I wanted to create an environment that everyone felt comfortable to train, no matter if you had never held a gun or were a special forces operator in the military. I visioned a family-friendly environment that would bring like-minded people together to train or purchase gun/gear and fellowship and entertainment. These like-minded people would share the love for GOD, Family, and our great nation. My vision was to provide multiple services for our members, such as an indoor shooting range, a fitness center that would accommodate a traditional weight lifter, someone who enjoys CrossFit or just enjoys taking a walk on the treadmill. I visioned providing skilled instructors to help members reach their goals by attending our weekly classes. I visioned a dojo that would allow us not to only host our self-defense classes to civilians and our defensive tactics to law enforcement but to bring a different type of training unlike any other dojo in town. Majority of dojo’s focus on one skill set, such as judo, karate, or jujitsu. I want to train our members that focus on a survival skill set. This program would show a wide variety of skill sets and give members skills to protect themselves and their families. The classes would also incorporate training involving weapons defense and weapons retention.

I also wanted to provide a location that would allow our instructors to train our members to develop a plan and execute it if someone breached their home or found themselves in an active shooter situation. This area would incorporate force on force to teach students to react under stress. In this area, we would also provide virtual reality training. Reality-based training is the most realistic training that is almost like a real-life situation. This would allow us to put members in multiple situations, react, and discuss with our professional instructors.

From my experience, some of the best memories in my life have been made around a good meal or drink. I want to provide an environment against the ‘new normal in this country. I want to provide an establishment that is not ashamed to say, God, Bless you, Merry Christmas, and pro-American rights. This establishment will serve good, clean, quality food to our members and the public so they can create these memories I remember. This environment will be an upscale space with leather couches and chairs to allow an “old-fashioned” attractiveness quaint and charm. The area will have amenities such as a cigar humidor, TVs, and even a golf simulator. There will also be a private Bourbon/Cigar private club that members only can access.

LawMan Tactical Guntry Club will be a multifaceted organization that offers top-level training courses for civilians, law enforcement, and military personnel. It is also a family-centric community that teaches lifesaving skills, cultivates confidence, and provides a unique entertainment experience around like-minded people.
